The Room That Listens When You Hurt

What if a room could remember every time someone cried inside it? What if walls could keep secrets — and never let them go? That’s the heart of my upcoming gothic horror novel, The Room That Remembers Pain. In the small Texas town of Briar Hollow, a museum begins to change. Objects appear with dates that haven’t happened yet. Lights flicker at the wrong moments. And a strange stone creature stands inside a sealed room, as if it has always been there… waiting.

This isn’t a loud, jump-scare kind of horror story. It’s quiet. Slow. Heavy. The fear grows like cracks in a wall. The museum doesn’t attack people. It learns from them. Every fear, every secret, every painful memory becomes part of its structure. Rowan and Maeve soon realize the building isn’t just haunted — it’s awake. And it is keeping track.

At the center of the story is a terrifying Texas cryptid made from limestone rock, with sharp spikes and dark crimson stains along its claws. It doesn’t chase victims through hallways. It stands still and lets the room do the work. Because in Briar Hollow, pain doesn’t disappear. It stays. It builds. It becomes something solid.

If you love gothic horror, psychological suspense, and stories where places feel alive, this book is for you. The room is listening. And it remembers more than you think.
