When Gravity Breaks: The Terrifying Story Behind After the Snap
When Gravity Breaks: The Terrifying Story Behind After the Snap
What would happen if the ground beneath your town suddenly stopped following the rules of gravity? That is the terrifying question at the heart of my upcoming horror novel, After the Snap. In the small Texas town of Briar Hollow, something ancient wakes beneath the limestone earth. Streets bend, rocks float into the air, and the night sky seems to curve like a bowl above the town. What begins as strange gravity glitches quickly becomes something much worse. Something alive is spreading beneath the land.
At the center of the story is Rowan Cross and a small group trying to stop the disaster before the town tears apart. Rowan never planned to lead anyone, but when reality begins to fracture, he steps forward anyway. Alongside Maeve, Evelyn, and Clay, he faces a threat that cannot be reasoned with. The creature behind the chaos—known as the Thorned Witness—can twist gravity, warp the earth, and even take control of human bodies to expand its power.
But the horror in After the Snap is not just monsters and blood. It is about choices. Sometimes the only way to save a town is to make a decision that breaks your heart. Rowan and Maeve discover that survival has a cost, and every moment they delay gives the creature more control over the land.
If you love cryptids, gothic horror, and cosmic terror set in the American Southwest, this story will pull you straight into the darkness. The Snap was only the beginning—and Briar Hollow may not be the only town about to break.
